Introduction to Colours :

Colour is a part of our psychological and biological heritage therefore sometimes we response to colour in certain way, we think that red is hot and blue is cool, these are found to be universal responses. Colour creates mood; adds height and gives warmth to the coldest place.

Colour does affect individuals behaviour. The behaviour characteristics of individuals due to colour affects their buying, mating and congregation patterns. However, it is not only colour but lighting and shades of colour that have the most effect.

Colour has been studied from philosophical, biological, anthropological and psychological perspective over the course of time and many researchers believe that the perception of colour is biologically based, the perception of these colours affects our emotions and reaction may be based on cultural, psychological and age influences. Colour sensitivity has been established to occur differently in different species and is dependent on four properties fundamental to the discrimination of colour: wavelengh discrimination, metamerism in colour mixture, sensitivity to colour and contrast, a response consistency between the recognition of colours.
